For the sake of an update...
The WiFi package that I bought for the month at the monastery isn't the most reliable--and is often pretty slow, so I figured while I'm still at school I could write a new post.
I went back to Rome this past weekend because two seminarians from SJS were going to be there Sunday-Thursday ending their trip to the Holy Land with the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher. And one of them is a very good friend, so there was NO WAY I wasn't going to hang out with him.
As expected, the weekend went by too quickly and before I knew it, Monday night had arrived and it was time to board a bus back to Siena (yes..that means I skipped classes Monday, and I have no regrets).
On Monday I went to St. Mary Major Basilica since it was the feast day of the dedication of the Basilica. During the Gloria, "snow" fell from the ceiling onto the sanctuary, because when the site for the Basilica was being chosen, it snowed in Rome in August on this spot, and therefore that is where the Basilica was erected. It was very cool. Other than that, I just hung out with Phil, showed him the NAC and just chilled. It was SO awesome to see a familiar face. Even though it's only been 3 weeks, it seems like so much longer since I've hung out with family and friends.
Tomorrow is the feast of St. Dominic, so some guys might serve the Mass at San Domenico at 6 pm with one of the priests who teaches our liturgy class (Don Alfredo). And then it's almost the weekend! We are about half way done with out time in Siena. We have Monday-Wednesday and half day Friday of next week (Thursday is the Assumption of BVM, no classes) and then the following week Monday-Wednesday and then immediately return to the NAC for the start of regular orientation on Thursday.
I can't thank people enough for their encouraging emails, texts, facebook messages etc. Your prayers, love and support mean so much to me!
Praised be Jesus Christ...
